Social change does not happen through isolated acts of assistance. It happens when people, communities and organisations come together to understand problems, create solutions and build opportunities for a better future.

Since 2008, Mission 21st Century has worked with a broader vision of social development—one that recognises that the challenges faced by communities are interconnected. Healthcare, education, environmental responsibility, rehabilitation and access to justice can all influence an individual’s ability to live with dignity and participate fully in society.

Our Social Impact mission brings this broader perspective together. We seek to support communities through initiatives that encourage awareness, participation, empowerment and sustainable change.

We believe that meaningful impact begins by understanding the needs of the people we work with. Solutions must therefore be relevant to the realities of communities and designed with a long-term perspective. Our approach encourages collaboration between individuals, volunteers, communities, organisations and other stakeholders who share the goal of creating positive change.

We also believe that social impact should not be measured only by the number of people reached. True impact is reflected in what changes afterwards—greater awareness, increased opportunity, stronger communities, improved confidence and the ability of people to take greater control of their own futures.
